 故事發生在2008年北京奧運會前夕，參加過朝鮮戰爭的退伍老兵張大川（楊新鳴 飾），與兒子一家生活在中國南方的一個小鎮上，雖然同住一個屋檐下但關系并不親密。一天，大川接到老戰友去世的電話，于是他決定獨自前往北京，參加戰友的葬禮。這個計劃，被正值青春叛逆期的孫子小松（胡昌霖 飾）發現，小松懇求和威脅爺爺帶他一起去。爭執之后，從未單獨出過遠門的祖孫倆上路了.......
