唐澤壽明,當(dāng)真亞美放棄作為人權(quán)派律師之路，在大型律師事務(wù)所為大企業(yè)工作的律師長谷部恭介（唐澤壽明 飾）。出于維護(hù)大所體面的方針，他以國選辯護(hù)人的身份，接手了一起資產(chǎn)家殺人案中被告家政婦的辯護(hù)工作。然而，被告家政婦主張自己無罪，稱“我沒有殺人，只是在對(duì)方試圖自殺時(shí)想要救她”。 作為檢方證人的，是案件唯一的目擊者——住在對(duì)面的少女小池希美（當(dāng)真亞美 飾）。長谷部得知希美患有自閉譜系障礙。通過不斷前去拜訪，他逐漸與她拉近距離、建立信任，但在法庭上，卻不得不以證人與辯護(hù)人的身份與她正面相對(duì)……

In late August 1939, Sally stands on the shore at Dover and takes her first step into the English Channel. She swims across the open and icy sea for 15 hours, waving to the Navy who are readying for war. A couple of days after Sally swims ashore at Calais, Poland is invaded.
